Also, I had a dream I was in Tim Burton's new Alice movie. Ahhahah that was entertaining. Really though, I can't wait for it. Anyone who has ACTUALLY READ the freakin' novel will know Burton is pretty much the only person who will be able to do a movie adaptation correctly. I watched the Disney one once and wanted to throw it out the window. And I do LOVE the Natalie Gregory one (Carol Channing is also in it, and it's worth watching, just for her manscreams) but it's still not right. The book is CREEPY. Not a kid's book.

I am looking forward to this with great anticipation!

I'm wary of the movie. I've seen the trailer and at worst it looks like it may just be another opportunity for Burton and Depp to pat each other on the back about how great it is...that said, I still want to see it because he does good work usually.

Eh, I don't think any movie they've made together has been about that. I love what they do!

We did the book an Children's Lit at uni, and two or three lectures on the life of Lewis Carrol and there was a lot of borderline creepy stuff in his life. And then we did Winnie the Pooh with a guest lecturer and I think he was on crack.

Almost certainly not.: Lonely rings_moontree on September 20th, 2009 11:11 am (UTC)
Man, I don't know. Mr. Carroll did write the thing for Alice Liddell, and she was a child. You could make a case for social mores being different at the time, but to me it is a kid's story, albeit not a conventional one

I'm a pretty big fan of Mr. Carroll's work, and frankly I'm a bit wary of this film. Alice in Wonderland was a big part of my childhood and Mr. Burton has a habit of bringing in idiots who only like the movie for a pretty face or two. While Mr. Depp may be a wellspring of talent and taste, the Hatter is not the main character. Alice is. I fear that new fans will forget that in favor of OMGHESOPRETTY.

Oh I know it's meant to be a children's story, it's just f-ed UP! And I can't see it as a kid's story at all!

Ahahha oh...I do hope THAT doesn't happen, good point ;) Though he has given him weird hair, which might make him less pretty...
